After much consideration while standing in the store comparing prices, I believed in the Troy Bilt name and purchased this trimmer based on its size (27cc) and the fact that I could use external attachments with it. Granted, I didn't do my normal research - as I said, I believed in the Troy Bilt name. After the fact, it turns out that this particular trimmer has numerous problems that end up costing you most of your valuable Saturday when you could be finished with the yard work. My problems are exactly the same as numerous complaints I have found, especially on the Troy Bilt website!Problems: Runs great the first 5 times. Struggles to start at about 6-8 uses. Will only start and run in choke position #2. Will not run in choke position 3 which is the proper position for it to run and idle. By use number 10, completely stopped working! Over the past year, I have put about 5 hours into the product, and it has run about 1 hour total.The first year, it was hard to start but, once started, ran well. At the beginning of this year, it was hard to start and would stall after 15 minutes and refuse to start again. Now, at the end of this season, it does not start. Once started it seems to run fine, but I wasn't born with the 4 hands necessary to hold the throttle, pump the primer, hold the electric drill, and hold the entire unit. Needless to say, it is going in the trash and I'm buying another brand. I will NEVER buy Troy-Built anything ever again! |
