One day, after so much verbal and physical abuse, my Weed Eater grew despondent and withdrawn. I came home after work and found that he had thrown himself across the yard and broken in two. It was ruled a suicide. After that, I determined that I would never own a gas powered weed trimmer again. For three years I owned a battery powered weed trimmer and loved it. That was until recently, when I moved into a house with an acre of property. The battery powered weed trimmer just couldn't get the job done. I started searching for a gas powered weed trimmer that wouldn't piss me off and stumbled upon the Husqvarna 4 stroke. After just one use (I've used it repeatedly since) Husqvarna managed to fully convince me of two things: I will never buy a two-stroke again, and I will never buy... After getting it home I put it together, put the oil and gas in and nothing. The head wouldn't spin! So I took it back exchanged it for another 224L. After going through the same setup I had the same problem, only this time the head barely spun. I went online and found out that for whatever reason the units need to be adjusted after purchase. You simply unscrew the motor and push it down about an inch or so. This allows the motor to engage the head thereby allowing the unit to work. After doing this the unit worked perfectly! Why can't they do this at the factory! That's why this product gets 4 Stars instead of 5! Pros: - Extremely Powerful! Will need pants and safety glasses! -... It also made a fine racket(while accelerating)inside the shaft. What you need to do is to remove the engine from the shaft - (4) Allen screws, and check that when you spin the clutch bell housing manually, that the trimmer head turns in both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise). It most likely will not spin in one of those directions. What you need to do is remove the Allen screws found in the plastic handle/accelerator and push the handle down on the shaft. Remove the clutch bell housing. Now put it back on while lining up the square shaft to the bell housing, now push as hard as you can, and install/tighten up all of the previously removed Allen screws. Now, Bob's your uncle. You can thank the Far Eastern assemblers of this fine product for not having much arm strength. |
