| 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful  Buy another brand, This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRRY26520 26-cc Gas Powered 18-in Straight Shaft String Trimmer I didn't buy a reconditioned ss26, I bought a new unit from HD.Right out of the box the idle screw had to be run in to keep the unit running. Then after I finally got it dialed in and started to trim I found the real fault on this POS....The choke lever extends far enough out that it regularly makes contact with your hip during use and subsequently places it into the choke position killing the engine. Proof that the design pukes have never run their product or it wouldn't have left the factory. There are two heads that come with this machine, the standard wound head and a heavy duty line that you insert into holes. Both work well when the weed eater works, That's a problem. I started the weed eaters life with a new fuel tank, fresh gas and good quality 2 stroke oil. It never has run well, always hard to start. With in 6 months I had to replace the fuel lines and primer button....I don't cut my grass so oftern that the thing wore out, it's just crap.. save yourself the headache,... Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful  Great little trimmer in need of a little tweaking to run right, This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRRY26520 26-cc Gas Powered 18-in Straight Shaft String Trimmer I've been a small engine tech (2 & 4 cycle) for over 30yrs, so let me tell you a few things I have done to make my Ryobi SS26 run great. First and foremost is the carb hi & lo screws MUST be readjusted to a slightly richer mixture. As it is delivered, the machine is way too lean on both lo and hi adjustments (just the way the EPA likes it..btw) and can not develop full power. If held at wide open throttle the engine will overheat. The adjustment is very slight but VERY necessary.....I used the special tool and turned mine out no more than 1/4 turn each and the engine went from hard starting and wouldn't accept any throttle to xlnt. Slotting the mixture screws so they can be turned using a regular screwdriver also works well. Cold starting goes like this....full choke/full throttle/pull starter 2-3 times until engine "pops" or burbles/dies. Turn choke lever to middle position/still holding full throttle and pull starter 2-3 times until engine starts......warm engine for a minute or so...
