Not having used straight shaft or curved, that feature didn't really bother me either way...And while the PP133 is CARB-compliant (CARB = California Air Resource Board), this one isn't. But let's face it: California is the closest thing to a complete nanny state we have in the US...if you want to do something in California, rest assured, there is somebody that wants to regulate (and probably tax) it.Alas, this non CARB-compliant (illegal in CA) trimmer is fantastic. Very powerful, lightweight enough so you can go for about 2 tanks of gas (maybe about 90 minutes) before it starts to feel heavy, its exhaust... Purchased the edger attachment and before I could finish edging the front lawn the motor seized up. Didn't give it one star because I realize that edging is tougher than trimming.. The engine is balky at best and hard to start. It has been the most difficult for me to wind the string on this model and then it binds up and I constantly have to stop, take the head off, realign the string, etc. I've never had to do that with any other weed eater. I've talked with Poulan and they were absolutely no help... customer service is about as good as this unit. I've made a mental note: Never again will I purchase anything that has Poulan on it anywhere. In the meantime, I dropped by WM and picked up a $65 unit that beats Poulan by a mile. It's easy to start, easy to string, it keeps the string in place, and it's an easy tap to advance the string... none of this applies to the Poulan. If I could give a zero, I would. This Poulan goes to the dump. Buyer beware, it looks good sitting on the shelf, but is a poor performer. |
